Every year Saudi Arabia celebrates the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on September 23 with pomp and galore. This year is no different. The kingdom is all set to celebrate its 90th National Day with a four day holiday, concerts, traditional festivals, and a plethora of activities. This important day is celebrated to promote national pride, honor the cultural heritage, and rich history of Saudi Arabia.
We at Rehlat take pride in being a part of this beautiful, diverse, & vibrant country. To celebrate the joyous occasion of 90th Saudi National Day, we have created a video that promotes what Saudi Arabia is all about; spirituality, natural beauty, cuisine, culture, and most importantly our video reflects our view on promoting and supporting local brands.
Saudi National Day commemorates the unification and renaming of the Kingdom of Nejd and Hejaz to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by King Ibn Saud in 1932.
In 1921, when Ibn Saud became the ruler of Nejd, he set out to reconquer his ancestral lands. By 1925, he managed to conquer Hejaz and declared himself King. After five years of ruling Nejd and Hejaz separately, he unified the two kingdoms and named the new kingdom after his family, the House of Saud.
The 90th Saudi National Day marks 90 years of the existence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is a cause of celebration. This day holds a special place in the heart of Saudi Arabians. You can expect to see festivities everywhere around the country. Streets and houses will be decorated with green and white flags, the national color of Saudi Arabia, and the sound of passionate patriotic celebrations will fill the air.
This year’s celebration includes star-studded concerts in Damman, Jeddah, and Riyadh with a list of a-list Arab artists. To kick off the celebrations on September 22, Emirati singer Ahlam will perform in Jeddah, and Rashed Al Majed and Aseel Abu Bakr will perform in Damman. Followed by Majid Al Mohandes in Riyadh and Dalia Mubarak and Abadi Al Johar in Jeddah the next day. On September 24, Angham and Tamer Ashour will perform in Jeddah. September 25 will see Mohamed Hamaki take the stage in Jeddah and Rabih Saqer in Riyadh. The concerts will have limited seatings and adhere to strict social distancing protocols. There will also be an option to buy a ticket and watch the live stream of the concerts from the safety of your own home.
Besides concerts, the entire kingdom will be able to witness a fireworks show on September 23. An air show will also be organized on the same day to showcase Saudi Arabia’s impressive warplanes. Both shows will be aired on Saudi TV for everyone to see. This year’s National Day Run will be conducted both in real as well as in virtual. The 2.4 km virtual “run” allows participants to either run, walk, hike or cycle virtually for 90 minutes 90 seconds from anywhere in the world.
