City & Culture
The key to understanding a country’s culture is to be a part of the festivals and events of that place. These cultural festivals provide a great opportunity to engage in with the local customs and traditions. Join in the celebrations this November with the natives in their own countries for an exceptional experience of their culture.
Interestingly humorous name. Isn’t it? True to its name, it’s quite an interesting festival to observe. Celebrated annually in Lopburi province of Thailand, the rituals of this festival involve offering fruits and vegetables to the monkeys. Watching the monkeys eat to their heart’s delight in this festival is one of the most moving things you’d ever experience. Plus, it’s an amazing chance to get some fascinating and amusing shots on your camera.

If I had to personify the Winter Festival of Lights, I would call it an enchantress. It’s a festival that will spellbind you with its illuminated charm. Held in Niagara Parks Winter Wonderland every year from November to January, this festival is once in a lifetime kind of experience (unless of course you attend it more than once). Around 3 million lights adorn the holiday decorations hypnotizing the visitors with their unforgettable beauty. As if it wasn’t enough to make your heart skip a few beats in amazement, there are fireworks too to take your breath away.

This festival is celebrated in Laos in the famous stupa of That Luang. The That Luang stupa is considered to be the symbol of the capital city of Vietnam. Uncountable monks and pilgrims from the region and the neighbouring Southeast Asian countries flood the festival’s venue, and the entire place echoes with the chanting of prayers and lights up with the fireworks. The festival’s processions along with the food stalls and traditional games are something that you must experience at least once to experience Vietnam in its full spiritual glory.Date: 22nd November, 2018
