Theater du Capitole

The Capitole, which houses the city of Toulouse's administrative headquarters, contains an opera house called the Théâtre du Capitole. Théâtre du Capitole is a large opera house that attracts the top performers and conductors from throughout the world. The Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, a symphony orchestra, an opera company, and a ballet company are all housed there.


Guillaume Cammas designed a salle du jeu de spectacle, the first performance area, in the structure in 1736. The current space was built during the rebuild of 1818 after a period of disrepair. The theater was damaged by fire in 1917, but it was rebuilt in 1923. In 1996, the front-of-house areas underwent modernization. There are currently 1156 seats available.
